Day of Service

Community Wide Day Of Service

Saturday, November 20 - 9-10:30am

For our school-wide day of service on Saturday, November 20, we will be creating Thanksgiving treat bags for distribution at Glide Memorial Church.

On the one hand, community members can come on-campus to 150 Oak Street to do gift-bag assembly in-person,  from 9-10:30am. (We will have assembly stations as well as tables with art supplies, where participants can create notes and cards.)

Those who are not able to come on campus that morning can also do the activity on their own, and bring their treat bags the morning of November 22. (There will be collection boxes in the entrance lobbies at 150 Oak Street and at Page Street).

We will then take these bags to Glide later that day, so they can all be distributed during the Thanksgiving weekend.
For the on-campus event, we will provide core supplies (plastic bags, some treats) and some cards (some are being made in advance by our students). Families are also welcome to bring some supplies from the list below.... or simply come to help out with assembly. If you make your own at home, feel free to make any number of bags (ex. about 5-20), as detailed below, and bring these the morning of November 22. (We will have a 9:30am Zoom check-in with the volunteer coordinator at Glide, that all can join virtually.)

Glide asks these gift-bags (ideally in a clear plastic, ex. Ziploc, bag), include:
- a short holiday-themed card or note (ex. a drawing, or message of encouragement)
- some "treat" items (note: NO HOME-BAKED GOODS or glass items please). Options include:

  • small-bags of candy or pre-packaged snacks
  • small hand sanitizers
  • holiday themed “knick-knacks” or ornaments
  • juice pouches
If you would like to be part of this activity, please complete this form below to help with planning.
Only one-sign up is needed per household.
