Coach Info
Head Coach: Marcus Porchia
Marcus Porchia, a Bay Area native that started playing sports as soon as he could walk. Attended FAIS and IHS, graduated in 2013 and is proud to hold the "lifer" title. Throughout his academic career, he was a part of many sports (Cross Country, Basketball, Track & Field, Baseball) that were provided, but being a leader was his calling.
Assistant Coach: Morgan Joscelyn
Morgan Joscelyn is a lifelong basketball player who is in her first season as an Assistant Women’s Varsity Coach. She played competitively for over 12 years and traveled all over the country with her AAU, High School, and College Teams (Claremont McKenna College). Coach Joscelyn was a relentless defender known for her work ethic, toughness and grit. Her coaching mentality is a direct derivation of a quote from John Wooden, “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” Outside of basketball, Coach Joscelyn prides herself on her community involvement and strives to instill her passion for service in her players both on and off the court.
Overview
Regarding the next school year and athletic competition, we have been following the California Interscholastic Federation press release announcing new dates for sports seasons, and we are working with the North Coast Section and Bay Area Conference to introduce a plan for a complete sports offering for student-athletes WHEN THIS IS PERMITTED.
While we are still working out details, we know that we will not be starting a traditional fall season on November 2nd, as originally planned. Our Athletic Department is working with our coaches to hold regular, synchronized workouts and team meetings for student-athletes closer to their scheduled season.
More information will be available in mid-August, and we encourage all students interested in participating in athletics to complete their required yearly physical. When we are able to compete again, that will be required. More information will be directly communicated from our Athletic Department, but in the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact Director of High School Athletics, Sara Johnson (saraj@frenchameriansf.org).
