Class of 2014 impressive line-up of colleges & universities
Posted 05/09/2014 03:00PM
Admit rates continue to shrink at the most selective colleges and universities, and this year was no exception. This year, competition to gain admission to UC Berkeley and UCLA was at its most challenging--admit rates at both institutions fell below 20% for the first time. Despite the trend of ever-shrinking admit rates, we continue our record of success with the most competitive schools. Here is a snapshot of these admits that our Class of 2014 received, along with this year's overall admit rates
  • Stanford - (a 5.1% admit rate this year) 3 students admitted, one waitlist
  • Brown - (8.6% admit rate) 1 admit and one waitlist
  • Columbia - (6.94% admit rate) 2 admits
  • Cornell -- (14% admit rate) 3 admits (one to Cornell Engineering)
  • Harvard - (5.9% admit rate) 1 admit, one waitlist
  • Princeton - (7.28% admit rate) 1 admit
  • Yale - (6.26% admit rate) 1 admit
  • University of Chicago - (8% admit rate) 3 admits
  • Harvey Mudd College - (13% admit rate) 1 admit
  • Northwestern - (15% admit rate) 1 admit
  • UCLA - (84,000 applications received -- the most of any college or university in the US -- 17% admit rate) 9 admits
  • Washington University in St. Louis - (15% admit rate) 1 admit
  • Oxford (UK) - (15% admit rate) 1 admit
  • UC Berkeley - (17% admit rate) 13 admits
  • Carnegie Mellon - (10% admit rate for engineering) 3 admits (2 to engineering/one to business)
  • University of Southern California School of Dramatic Arts -
(8% admit rate for Dramatic Arts) 1 admit

"These numbers demonstrate that our collective efforts to educate our students have real value in the larger world of competitive college admissions," says Director of College Counseling Ashley Rochman. "These results show that our IB/French Bac programs are treated as the gold standard in preparing students for higher education."

Congratulations to the Class of 2014!

"Research shows that younger children have a superior ability to learn a second language and that bilingual students tend to outperform their monolingual peers."
