Middle School Students Win Top Prize in American Mathematical Competition
Posted 02/06/2015 09:43AM

Once again, Middle School students earned top marks in the American Mathematical Competition (MAA), including one 1st-place award, two 2nd-place awards, and 2 third-place awards.

Pictured are our winners of the AMC 8, including one 5th grader! Held in November, the contest is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills. Congratulations to all who took the test.

Math Contest Awards

The MAA American Mathematics Competitions (MAA AMC) is dedicated to the goal of strengthening the mathematical capabilities of our nation’s youth. We believe that one way to meet this goal is to identify, recognize, and reward excellence in mathematics through a series of national contests.

For over 60 years many excellent exams have been prepared by individuals throughout our mathematical community in the hope that all secondary students will have an opportunity to participate in these problem solving and enriching mathematics experiences. The MAA AMC contests are designed to engage students and teachers in effective mathematical problem solving that is consistent with curricular goals, and to prepare students for future mathematical success.
