Speaker

Eric Thuau
Eric Thuau is head of school at The International School of San Francisco and brings nearly three decades of leadership experience in international education. After sixteen years at French American School of Puget Sound, where he led a diverse school community, Eric joined International in the summer of 2026, coinciding with the opening of a new High School, a campus transformation, and the launch of a new food program.

Eric's career began in France, where he earned youth-leadership certifications and directed summer camps before completing his university studies and earning additional degrees. At the end of his studies, rather than joining the military, he chose France's overseas cooperation program, which took him to Cape Verde, where he was assigned to lead a PK-12 French school, work toward its accreditation by the French Ministry of Education, and teach Grade 1. He later took on headship and teaching roles in Turkey, Texas, and ultimately Seattle, each time championing multiculturalism, bilingual education, and community engagement.

Passionate about fostering open, globally-minded schools, Eric is committed to preserving International's core strengths – its bilingual identity, international outlook, and vibrant community – while also evolving its educational practices. He's a strong advocate for both the International Baccalaureate and French Baccalaureate programs, and for offering students multiple pathways to success. In his first year at the school, Eric is focused on listening, understanding, and working with all members of the school community to ensure International continues to adapt and thrive.

Outside of work, Eric is an avid lover of the arts and food, and is quickly immersing himself in San Francisco's cultural scene. He describes his new role with "happiness and gratitude," eager to steward the school's next chapter and honor its rich history and diverse community.
