Our Financial Assistance program is designed to make an International education possible for all families based on demonstrated financial need and the availability of funds. The International School of San Francisco is proud to use the Clarity Application to determine a family’s level of financial need based on the information that families share in the application which includes assets, income, expenses, and debts. For help with the application, please see the Family Application Guide (the Spanish version can be found here).

Step 1: 

Go to https://app.clarityapp.com/sign-up. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. The Clarity Application is mobile-friendly, so you can complete it from anywhere. At the end of the application, there is a $65 fee to submit, and you can share your application with additional schools that accept the Clarity Application for no additional charge. Simply use the dropdown menu in the application to select those schools

Step 2:

Begin your application and add The International School of San Francisco. You can log out of the application at any time and return later to complete it.

Step 3: 

Complete your application and pay the $65 Clarity application fee.

Step 4: 

Complete the Clarity Enhanced Tax Verification (ETV) process to release your W-2 and personal tax return transcripts from the IRS by signing a Form 8821 or using an irs.gov account. This is a one-time security measure required by the IRS to protect against identity theft and the compromise of personal information.

Step 5:

Submit your Clarity application and follow the link to return to your dashboard to upload any additional supporting documents. Non-U.S. tax filers will be prompted to upload income verification and other necessary documentation. Keep in mind that at a later date, you may be prompted by the school via Clarity to upload additional documentation as needed.

International requires your tax information, including your tax return for 2025, to be available by February 15, 2026.

Returning families deadlines:

• Lower School: December 1, 2025
• High School: December 1, 2025

New families deadlines:

• Lower School: January 12, 2026
• High School: January 8, 2026

If you need support during the process of completing your application, there is in-app support available through the “Help” button in the bottom left of the screen, as well as email and phone support at support@clarityapp.com or 206-210-3752, in both English and Spanish. The application itself is also fully translated into Spanish. 

Financial assistance is awarded on the basis of need and the potential family contribution as reported by Clarity as well as documentation provided by the family.

Our school uses Clarity's data and household income/assets guidelines to assess annually each family’s ability to pay for education. We make every effort to meet the demonstrated need of all admitted or enrolled financial aid applicants. However, resources are not always sufficient to meet the full need of applicants.

Due to the large number of families applying for Financial Assistance and the limited timeframe within which awards are to be made, it is critical that all documents be submitted according to the prescribed deadlines for returning and new students. We notify applicants of financial aid decisions before expecting a binding reply to the offer of enrollment.

All information provided during the Financial Aid process is kept in strict confidence.

French Government scholarship applicants also need to complete our Financial Aid process. Parents/guardians should complete the Clarity Application. Please contact the Financial Aid office with any concerns related to the Enrollment and Financial Aid processes as soon as they arise.

French Government Scholarships
Applications for French Government Scholarships for 25/26 are now available on the Consulate’s Website. The deadline to submit applications to the French Consulate is March 7, 2025. Bourses du gouvernement français
La campagne pour la commission locale des bourses du gouvernement français est maintenant ouverte. La date limite de présentation des dossiers de demande au Consulat est fixée au 7 mars cette année. Toutes les informations sont consultables sur le site du Consulat de France.
