Snapshots of International High School

Each year, our Seniors participate in the Senior Walk, and opportunity to walk the entire campus, and high five every student, teacher, and staff member in the building on their final day of school

The Dennis Gallagher Arts Pavilion at 66 Page Street, part of our main campus at 150 Oak, features inspired classrooms for visual art (including painting, sculpture, photography, videography, and more), theater, and music; recording studios; media labs; and a black box theater.

Our main campus at 150 Oak Street is six stories tall, offering bright classrooms with dynamic views of the city. Inside, there are also three libraries, makerspaces including a design studio, science labs, art and music classrooms, two playgrounds, and many other spaces for dreams to come to life.

Our rooftop serves as a space for our high school students to take breaks, read or study in the sun, enjoy lunch, and take in city views.

Libraries play a central part in the intellectual and social life of our students, and act as hubs for research and inquiry, reading, collaboration, and creation. The school libraries offer a collaborative space where information, technology, and pedagogy come together to create a community of learners within and beyond the curriculum. Our Art Program features a wide variety of programs and classes, including IB Visual Art, where students deepen their knowledge of art theory and expand their creativity with a multitude of projects.

With a black-box theater, a costume shop, and a fully-equipped workshop, our theater program allows students to develop their talents as actors, writers, directors, and designers. Students study theater in class and as an extracurricular activity.

Music is a vital part of the artistic life of our school. Student musicians perform in events year-round, including the Winter and Spring Concerts and the Spring Musical. Whether working on solo pieces or with student bands, they can take advantage of our practice rooms and recording studio. The school also brings in visiting artists and hosts evening classes, which are often free or at reduced rates for students.

Student-athletes participate in competitive team sports, forging close relationships with their teammates and developing healthy practices of mind, body, and character. Many of our students play on a team during all three athletic seasons, some picking up new sports for the very first time at International High School.

Athletics are fully integrated into our educational philosophy and experience. Our athletic program fosters a spirit of commitment, leadership, and sportsmanship, while honoring cultural diversity and gender equity. Our student-athletes play because they love the game, value their teammates, and take pride in representing our school.

Interscholastic athletics are a central part of life at International. From the novice to the college-bound athlete, students have the opportunity to participate in competitive team sports, building strong relationships with their teammates, and developing healthy practices of mind, body, and character.
