International High School Parents' Association All parents and guardians of International High School students are members of the International High School Parents' Association and all parent committees are part of the Parents' Association. Its officers are president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. The association holds an annual meeting in May to elect new officers and board members and may hold other general meetings during the school year.
International High School Parents' Association Board (PAB) The International High School Parents' Association Board, known as PAB, is made up of the four elected association officers and 12 other elected members representing parents from the four high school grade levels. It meets once a month in the evening. Meetings are open to all association members.
The board has two main purposes. First, it promotes communication among parents and between parents and the school through means such as the JagWire newsletter and parent meetings. Gatherings organized by PAB include Parents' Association meetings, potluck get-togethers for parents at each grade level, the Moveable Feast, and welcome events for new International High School parents in the spring and at the start of school.
Secondly, the board coordinates parent volunteer activities -- such as those supporting the arts, sports, community service, the JagWire, the Parent/Principal Council, the Auction, the Annual Fund, admissions open houses and graduation. Representatives of each committee report regularly to PAB. PAB members usually participate in one or more committees, which helps to ensure that the board has a good overview of volunteer activities. |
